One of the great things about our VRs is that just about anyone can view them! The VRs use made using a free programming language called Java that allows programmers to create powerful applications that can run on any platform. For the most part Java is great - its free, readily available, and doesn't require super high-end computers. There are, however a few issues that we want to make our users aware of. | |
|
Windows XP Unfortunately Microsoft chose to ship some versions of Windows XP without the Java environment. This was a marketing move that has since been reversed. If you use Windows XP, and can't view the panoramas all you need to do is download Java for Windows XP. You will be instructed on how to properly install the software, and once it's up and running you can come right back here and check these pano's out! |
Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2.1 There is a bug in the Macintosh Java environment that can occasionally cause a panorama to "freeze" once it loads in Internet Explorer for Macintosh. This does not actually cause your system to crash - if it happens you can simply close out your browser and reload it. We also suggest trying Netscape Navigator, which does not seem to suffer from this bug, and if you don't already have it, you can download the newest version of Java for Macintosh. This bug does not affect OS X. |
